Arthur Moats signed by Steelers
By Mike Rodak
Former Buffalo Bills linebacker Arthur Moats has signed a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Moats wasn't expected to return to the Bills after some shuffling at linebacker this offseason. Under new defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, the Bills moved Kiko Alonso to the weak side and signed Brandon Spikes and Keith Rivers to man their other two linebacker spots.
That left little room for Moats to have a role with the Bills next season. Moats posted a career-high 54 tackles in 16 games played last season, which included 12 starts.
However, he wasn't considered an impact player on defense, creating an opportunity for the Bills to upgrade at the position. Moats recently hired well-known agent Drew Rosenhaus and was expected to find a starting job on the open market.
In four seasons with the Bills, Moats played in 59 games, making 20 starts.
With Moats off the market, the Bills have two unrestricted free agents remaining unsigned: defensive lineman Alex Carrington, who has made several visits to other teams, as well as safety Jim Leonhard, who has drawn no reported interest.
