Carolina rewards Davis by picking up option

The Carolina Panthers rewarded linebacker Thomas Davis for the best season of his career by reportedly picking up the 2014 and 2015 option years on the contract of the outside linebacker.

Pro Football Talk reported on Friday that Davis will make $13.5 million over the next two years, including a $5 million signing bonus.

Davis, 30, was second on the team in tackles this past season with 123. He also had four sacks.

It was a good move for Carolina and much deserved for Davis, who overcame ACL tears in his right knee three consecutive years to play the best football of his career this past season.
