Who should Panthers take in today's mock?

The Carolina Panthers won't let me be general manager for a day, but NFL Nation will.

The 32 of us covering the league for ESPN.com will hold a mock draft today as a primer for the real thing on Thursday. The Panthers have the No. 28 pick, and I'm making it.

You can follow along, beginning at 1 p.m.

Most draft experts have the Panthers taking a wide receiver or offensive tackle to fill a big need. I'm with general manager Dave Gettleman on this in that I'm taking the best player available.

If it's a wide receiver or tackle, that's easy. If the top players at those positions are gone, I'll look at a cornerback or defensive end. I may even look at an outside linebacker.

You win titles with defense and it never hurts to strengthen the league's No. 2 unit.

Have suggestions? Feel free to send them to @DNewtonESPN on Twitter as the draft unfolds.
