Chicago Bears tight end Martellus Bennett never shies away from offering his opinion for digestion through social media. So it didn’t come as a surprise on Monday when Bennett gave his take on the statement issued on Facebook by Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III.

In posting a link to Griffin’s statement, Bennett called the move “lame,” before joking, “Who still has [Facebook] anyways? Lol. I’m going to release a statement on my MySpace Music Page.”

Don’t read too much into Bennett’s posts though. Bennett likes to crack a joke or 20, and sometimes the humor comes at the expense of others, whether it’s Griffin or social media sites such as Facebook and MySpace. Maybe Bennett’s just more of a Twitter type of guy and felt the need to bust Griffin’s chops.

“Have a blessed day. I'm everyone's BFF even yours. Even if we aren't facebook friends,” Bennett posted, before later adding, “Don’t get mad at me if your favorite players aren’t cool in real life.”

Apparently, Bennett was conducting a "social media experiment," according to one of his posts on Twitter.

When does the 2014 football season begin again? It's already time to get back to football.
