CHICAGO -- Gaines Adams is taking a seat on the bench, as the Bears have listed the former first-round pick as inactive for Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams.

Adams did not appear on this week's injury report, so the decision is solely based on performance -- or lack thereof. In six games, Adams only has two tackles and one pass broken up in limited playing time. The hope is that Adams can be a factor in 2010, since the Bears gave up a second-round pick to acquire the defensive end from Tampa.

Other inactives include: Desmond Clark, Orlando Pace, Juaquin Iglesias, D.J. Moore, Matt Toeaina, Craig Steltz and Lance Briggs.

As expected; Chris Williams starts at left tackle; Kevin Shaffer at right tackle; Jamar Williams at weak side linebacker; Al Afalava at free safety and Kevin Payne at strong safety. Danieal Manning will be playing exclusively at nickel back..

Rookies Jarron Gilbert and Lance Louis are active.

Running back Steven Jackson will start for the Rams.
