Iwuh likely to join Bears roster

The Chicago Bears roster might grow by one in the next few days, judging from the play of former Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Brian Iwuh, who appears to be turning some heads at minicamp.

Brought in to work out at minicamp on a tryout basis, Iwuh will likely be offered a contract by the club by the end of the weekend. It appears the club envisions Iwuh as a four-phase contributor for special-teams coordinator Dave Toub. On the first day of minicamp, Iwuh was already working with the second group on the kickoff return teams.

A four-year veteran, Iwuh played 58 games in Jacksonville, starting in three before the club released him in April. In two starts at linebacker last season, Iwuh produced 17 tackles, including a game-high 12 in an Oct. 12 loss at the Seattle Seahawks. Iwuh has tallied 64 career tackles as a linebacker.

Iwuh has also posted 61 special teams tackles, which ranks third in Jaguars franchise history.
