CLEVELAND -- Red welts from a night of collisions lined the sides of Tim Shaw’s neck and chest, as he stepped out of the shower sipping a Gatorade.

Taking one last swig of his drink, Shaw shook his head and smiled.

“I can’t remember the last time I played this long.”

Not that it mattered. Shaw would’ve played eight quarters if given the opportunity.

Despite setting a Bears franchise-record last season with 30 special-teams tackles, Shaw, a Bears linebacker, knows a spot on the 53-man roster isn’t guaranteed. So he used the club’s 13-10 loss to the Browns Thursday night to polish up his resume. If the Bears decide Friday against bringing back Shaw, he hopes what he put on tape -- his resume -- entices other NFL teams to give him another shot.

“I left it all out there,” Shaw said. “I made a few plays, a couple of mistakes. All I can ask of myself is just to give it all I have. I know I did that, so I have no regrets. All you have in football is what you put on tape. The past is the past, but what we put on tape is our resume. That’s all we have to speak on, really.”

Shaw made seven tackles against the Browns, but could wind up a victim of the numbers game due to injuries at various positions. Shaw said it’s “always important [to put good showings on film” because you just never know what can happen.”
