BEARS (2-3)

Coach: Lovie Smith | Record including playoffs: 67-55 | Last week: Lost to Lions 24-13

Career head-to-head record (including playoffs) vs. Leslie Frazier: 1-0

Career record (including playoffs) vs. Vikings: 8-6

Key stat: In this series, the home team has won 15 of the last 18 games. Since 2002, the visiting team has won just three times. The Bears are 7-1 since 2003 against the Vikings at the new Soldier Field.

Offense rank: 23rd (318.0 ypg) | Defense rank: 29th (419.6 ypg)

Rob Grabowski/US PresswireThe Bears' Matt Forte is averaging 5.4 yards a carry.
Offensive leader: The NFL’s leader in yards from scrimmage (785), running back Matt Forte averages 5.4 yards per carry, which ranks as the 10 best in single-season team history. Forte’s yards-per-attempt average is the highest since Walter Payton averaged 5.5 yards per carry in 1977.

Defensive leader: Cornerback Charles Tillman appears to be the slumping defense’s most consistent player over the first five games. Since 2003, Tillman leads all NFL defensive backs with 26 forced fumbles over 119 games. Interestingly, with 12 forced fumbles over that time span, safety Chris Harris is tied for ninth among defensive backs.

STREAKS

  • Forte has contributed 150 yards or more from scrimmage in seven of his past nine games, making him the first player in franchise history to accomplish such a feat over a nine-game span.

  • After hitting field goals from 44 and 49 yards out against the Lions on Monday night, kicker Robbie Gould has connected on all 10 of his field-goal attempts this season.

  • The Bears haven’t scored in the third quarter in three consecutive games, and have been outscored 27-17 in the third quarter for the season.

    VIKINGS (1-4)

Coach: Leslie Frazier | Record: 4-7 | Career head-to-head record vs. Smith: 0-1

Career record against Bears: 0-1 | Last week: Defeated the Cardinals 34-10

Key stat: The Vikings have surrendered 4,461 rushing yards over the past four seasons, which ranks as the second-fewest in the NFL over that time span. The Vikings have allowed just six 100-yard rushing performance from 2006-11.

    Offense rank:24th (315.8 ypg) | Defense rank:14th (348.2 ypg)

Daniel Gluskoter/Icon SMIVikings defensive end Jared Allen has always played well against the Bears.
Offensive leader: Running back Adrian Peterson needs one touchdown to tie former Bear Walter Payton to move into fifth all time for rushing touchdowns in his first five seasons. Peterson has rushed for 1,200 yards or more in four consecutive seasons.

Defensive leader: Defensive end Jared Allen leads the league in sacks (8.5). Since coming into the league in 2004, Allen has racked up 91.5 career sacks, which ranks as the best among all players during that time span. In six career games against the Bears, Allen has posted 8.5 sacks, an interception and forced a fumble.

    STREAKS
  • Allen has posted a sack in seven consecutive games. If he notches one against the Vikings, Allen would tie a Vikings record held by Jim Marshall (1969) and Carl Eller (1975-1976).

  • Receiver Percy Harvin needs just two more rushing attempts to set a franchise record for runs by a receiver. Anthony Carter holds the record (47 carries).

  • A Chicago native, quarterback Donovan McNabb is 5-1 on the road against the Bears (including the playoffs) and 4-1 at Soldier Field.
