Chicago Bears general manager Jerry Angelo told ESPNChicago.com's Michael C. Wright that he's spoken with Chris Harris about his trade request, and the two are on the same page despite no deal being made before Tuesday's 3 p.m. deadline.

"We're all on the same page now," said Angelo, who said "it would be too difficult" to have gotten a deal done before Tuesday's 3 p.m. deadline.

"You have to be in the mindset to let a player go," Angelo said. "And chances are if they like your player, you like them, too. It's very difficult to do because with a lot of the good players, their teams are still in the hunt."

Agent Albert Elias says he spoke to several teams but was unable to work out a trade.

Harris requested to be dealt after being benched for Sunday's win over Minnesota. He missed three games with a hamstring injury before struggling in a Monday night loss at Detroit, and while coach Lovie Smith acknowledged the strong safety probably wasn't completely healed, he still juggled the lineup.

Harris is in his second stint with the Bears after being traded back from Carolina last year, and he has an expiring contract.
