Chicago Bears return specialist Devin Hester won his third Special Teams Player of the Week Award of the season and the 12th of his career after returning a punt 82 yards for a touchdown against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

And Hester did it after dealing with a sprained ankle all week and a bout of strep throat.

"I had just been feeling sick all week; had a fever over 103," Hester said. "My tonsils were swollen. I had strep throat. I was just feeling bad. Other than that, I just took some antibiotics, tried to get through it. It was a game-time decision."

Hester joins John Carney (13), Jerry Rice (13) and Adam Vinatieri (13) as the only non-quarterbacks to win 12 Player of the Week Awards in their career.

Hester now has an NFL-record 12 punt-return touchdowns to go with five kickoffs returns for TDs. He also returned a missed field goal for a TD and trails Deion Sanders by just one for the most touchdown returns in NFL history.
