CHICAGO -- After three years of sideline "Cutler Face," the Chicago Bears are finally giving Jay Cutler a reason to smile. He got his top-flight wide receiver with a trade for his old teammate Brandon Marshall.
About time. Chicago was psyched about this move, revealed on Twitter of course, I half-expected the city's mayor Rahm Emanuel to declare "Marshall's Law." (And then sell that law to a foreign subsidiary for $100 million.)
Nothing against Earl Bennett, Devin Hester, Johnny Knox and all the rest, but the team's failure to surround a franchise quarterback with a franchise wide receiver was inarguably short-sighted, and it's one reason why I thought former general manager Jerry Angelo needed to go.
