CHICAGO -- Playing without starting quarterback Jay Cutler, the Chicago Bears sputtered on offense as the Denver Broncos took advantage of a Michael Bush fumble to take a 3-0 first-quarter advantage.

In a sloppy preseason debut delayed by lightning, the Bears took the field with backup Jason Campbell as the starting quarterback and Bush as the No. 1 running back. Defensively, the club started without defensive end Julius Peppers, who was held out, and starting linebacker Brian Urlacher, who has been excused to attend to a personal matter.
Making his Denver Broncos debut, quarterback Peyton Manning completed
4 of 7 passes in the game’s opening drive, marching his team to the Chicago 12. On third down, Bears nickel corner D.J. Moore tipped a Manning pass intended for Brandon Stokely with Major Wright coming up with the interception.
Chicago failed to capitalize off the turnover, though. Just four plays later, Bush fumbled and Von Miller recovered for the Broncos, returning the loose ball to the Chicago 6. Prater booted a 28-yard field goal six plays later to give the Broncos the 3-0 lead.
By the end of the quarter, the Broncos had gained 85 yards while Chicago produced just 6.
