CHICAGO -- After entering the game to a chorus of boos, former Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Hanie guided the Denver Broncos offense on the only impressive offensive series of the half.

Hanie led the Broncos on a seven-play, 57-yard second quarter scoring drive that culminated in a Lance Ball 2-yard rushing touchdown that allowed the Broncos to head into the halftime locker room in front 10-0.

Hanie, who replaced starter Peyton Manning after the Broncos' opening offensive series, finished the first half completing 7 of 14 passes for 79 yards while also leading Denver in rushing with 23 yards on three carries.

The Broncos had a chance to add three more points as time expired in the half but kicker Matt Prater missed a 57-yard field goal attempt.

The Bears on the other hand -- minus Jay Cutler and Matt Forte -- accomplished little on offense as they managed just three first downs and 41 total yards. Dane Sanzenbacher and Alshon Jeffery each hauled in two receptions as Michael Bush and Kahlil Bell combined for just 6 yards rushing.

Second-year linebacker J.T. Thomas had an active first half for the Bears' with five tackles while safety Craig Steltz seemed to always be around the ball. Bears' defensive linemen Shea McClellin, Nate Collins and Chet Ozougwu each got credited with sacks in the opening half.
