CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bears continued to sputter offensively, and Denver took advantage to extend its lead to 24-0 on a touchdown run by Xavier Omon and a 19-yard scoring strike from Brock Osweiler to Jason Hill with 2:11 remaining in the quarter.
Chicago gained two first downs on its first three possessions of the second half, which netted 43 yards, with its first -- and best drive
-- coming to an end on a Josh McCown fumble. The Broncos, meanwhile, racked up eight first downs on their three drives in the third quarter, in addition to 93 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
The Broncos received some help prior to Omon’s TD run when Bears rookie Isaiah Frey was flagged 12 yards for pass interference.
The Bears inserted former Lake Zurich standout Matt Blanchard with 6:23 left in the third quarter. Blanchard completed his first two passes for 13 yards. But at the end of the quarter, the Broncos owned a lopsided advantage in time of possession (23:41 to 18:19) and yardage (270 to 97).
Third quarter: The Broncos extended their lead with two touchdowns.
