GREEN BAY, Wisc. -- For once, the Chicago Bears were on the receiving end of a perfectly executed special teams play.
With the Green Bay Packers facing 4th-and-26 on the Bears’ 27-yard line late in the second quarter, the Packers lined up to attempt a field goal. But when holder Tim Masthay received the snap, he flipped the ball to Green Bay's Tom Crabtree, who came around from the left side of the line to cut in front of Masthay, catch the football and run 27 yards for a touchdown.
That score extended Green Bay's lead to 10-0 and clearly swung the momentum in the Packers' favor.
"Frankly, 4th-and-26 was not the plan," Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said. "I really called that for different reasons. It's a play fake. We've been working on that for two and three years and we were looking for a certain look from the Bears. They gave it to us and it was a great execution on our players' part."
Bears cornerback Charles Tillman said Green Bay caught the Bears in the right spot for the call to work.
"We were trying to block it (the kick)," Tillman said. "That would been a real game-changer for us if we would have blocked it. Obviously, they got the better end of it. Great call on their part, great scheme, it was the perfect call for that particular style of block that we had set up."
