CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bears released their list of inactive players for Sunday’s matchup against the Carolina Panthers with defensive tackle Amobi Okoye being the most surprising of the healthy scratches.

Declared out earlier in the week because of a fracture in his hand, rookie receiver Alshon Jeffery was the lone frontline contributor listed among the inactives, a group that included receiver Dane Sanzenbacher, offensive lineman Edwin Williams, defensive tackle Matt Toeaina, tight end Brody Eldridge, and defensive end Cheta Ozougwu.

Okoye’s inactivity sets the stage for third-year veteran Nate Collins to make his Chicago Bears debut. Collins was suspended for the opener for violating the league’s substance policy, but has been inactive for the five games he’s been eligible to play.

The decision to list Okoye as an inactive comes as somewhat of a surprise considering he’s played in each of the last five games, contributing three tackles, including one for lost yardage and two quarterback pressures.

Toeaina, meanwhile, makes the list of inactives for fifth time in the last six games after starting in the opener against the Indianapolis Colts.

Inactives for the Panthers include quarterback Jimmy Clausen, receiver Joe Adams, safety D.J. Campbell, tackle Bruce Campbell, defensive end Antwan Applewhite, defensive end Thomas Keiser and cornerback James Dockery, who was claimed last week off waivers from the Cleveland Browns.
