Bears want fans to leave bags at home

The Chicago Bears will enforce a new rule for the first time on Thursday when they play host to the San Diego Chargers that will limit the types of bags fans can bring into Soldier Field.

The team encourages fans not to bring any bags to the game but the new rule, adopted by the NFL Committee on Stadium Security in May, allows for clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags not exceeding 12" by 6" by 12." Also allowed are one-gallon freezer bags and small clutch bags. Exceptions will be made for medically necessary items after inspection at the gate.

The new rule prohibits purses larger than a clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, non-clear cinch bags, luggage of any kind, seat cushions with zippered covers, pockets or flaps, computer bags and camera bags or any bag larger than the permissible size.
