BOURBONNAIS, Ill. -- Free agent cornerback Kelvin Hayden is scheduled to visit the Bears on Monday, according to an NFL source.

Hayden, a Chicago native, was released by the Indianapolis Colts on July 31. He was due to count $9.1 million against the Colts salary cap.

A 2005 second round draft choice out of the University of Illinois, Hayden is best remembered for sealing the Colts victory over the Bears in Super Bowl XLI when he intercepted quarterback Rex Grossman in the fourth quarter and returned it for a touchdown.

The cornerback started 11 games for Indianapolis last season, but finished the year on injured reserve with a neck injury. He recorded nine regular season interceptions over the past four seasons.

The Bears interest in Hayden is not surprising considering the defensive back played in a similar Cover-2 system while in Indianapolis.

If the Bears eventually sign Hayden, the club could look to part company with cornerbacks Tim Jennings or Zack Bowman.
