Bears promote two trainers

By Jeff Dickerson

The Chicago Bears have promoted Chris Hanks to the position of head coach/athletic trainer and Bobby Slater to assistant head athletic trainer/director of rehabilitation, the team announced on Friday.

The moves come in the wake of long-time head athletic trainer Tim Bream leaving earlier in the offseason to accept a position at Penn State.

Hanks and Slater have spent a combined 25 years with the Bears organization.

Hanks had been the club's assistant athletic trainer since 2000 after he spent the previous 11 years at the University of Richmond. Slater joined the Bears in 1999 and has been in charge of the rehabilitation program since 2002.
