Bears terminate contract of G Wrotto
By Michael C. Wright
The Chicago Bears terminated the contract Thursday of guard Mansfield Wrotto, a vested veteran.
Wrotto played in 27 games with 12 starts from 2008-10 with the Seattle Seahawks and Buffalo Bills, and had been taking reps at right tackle during organized team activities and minicamps.
Because of Wrotto’s vested status, he’s not subject to the waiver process and immediately becomes a free agent. The club’s decision to move on without Wrotto could indicate it might have become interested in one of the five tryout players participating in the mandatory veteran minicamp.
The Bears waived cornerback Donovan Warren after the first day of minicamp. The club’s minicamp tryout players included Mike Holmes of Syracuse, Darcy Johnson of Central Florida, Embry Peeples of Georgia Tech, Eli Joseph of Temple and Cory Brandon of Oklahoma, who has also had a short stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
