Jeffery out, but Bears healthy for Titans

By Michael C. Wright

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Chicago Bears receiver Alshon Jeffery remained sidelined with a broken hand, leaving tight end Matt Spaeth (ankle) as the only other player to land on the club’s injury report on Wednesday as it prepares for Sunday’s game at Tennessee.

Spaeth participated in practice, but in a limited capacity.

“When you have two guys on the injury list, you’re in pretty good shape,” Bears coach Lovie Smith said. “(That) makes it a little bit tougher on game day when you have everybody available for you. So guys really have to put a lot into practice to earn that uniform to be able to play (on Sunday). We have that at a couple of positions.”

Smith said Spaeth’s ankle injury shouldn’t affect his availability.

Jeffery, meanwhile, will miss his third game after breaking his hand on Oct. 7 during the fourth quarter of the team’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Although Jeffery’s injury didn’t require surgery, the receiver has been wearing a cast on his right hand.

The club’s third-leading receiver (14 catches, 184 yards and two touchdowns), Jeffery is expected to return in the next couple of weeks.
