NFL's top first-half performances

Charles Tillman

One of the beautiful things about ProFootballFocus.com is our ability track individual matchups throughout a game. How many of a wide receiver's targets come against a certain cornerback? How often did a cornerback switch sides in order to cover a specific wide receiver? Against which offensive lineman did a defensive end create the most pressure, and conversely, which offensive lineman shut down an opposing pass-rusher?

As we've made mention of in the past, our grades do not consider the quality of an opponent, as we treat all NFL players as equals on any given play. Still, there are some top performances that deserve more praise because they came against a top-notch opponent, or perhaps a player was simply asked to do more within a particular scheme.

Here's a look at some of the top individual performances against top competition so far this season, whether it be an individual player or an entire unit.
