Bears sign C/G Rob Turner
By Jeff Dickerson
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. -- The Chicago Bears have signed free agent center/guard Rob Turner to a one-year contract, the team announced Sunday night.
The Bears waived offensive lineman Graham Pocic to make room for Turner on the preseason roster.
A six-year NFL veteran, Turner started all 16 games for the St. Louis Rams in 2012 -- nine starts at center and seven starts at left guard. He started six games for the Tennessee Titans in 2013. Turner appeared in 41 games (two starts) for the New York Jets from 2007-11.
The Bears were required to add depth on the interior of their offensive line after Brian de la Puente suffered a Grade 2 MCL sprain in the preseason opener versus the Philadelphia Eagles that is expected to keep him out for a couple of weeks. Guard/center Eben Britton is also dealing with a hamstring injury and is officially classified as day-to-day. Britton has been out of action for more than a week.
