Chicago Bears: Day 1 draft primer

Welcome to arguably the busiest offseason date on the Chicago Bears’ calendar.

Activities at Halas Hall stretch from morning to late at night with Round 1 of the 2015 NFL draft and the final voluntary minicamp practice.

As it currently stands, the Bears have six picks in the draft. Chicago sent its seventh-round choice to the New York Jets in the Brandon Marshall trade.

First round: 7th overall selection

Second round: 39th overall selection

Third round: 71st overall selection

Fourth round: 106th overall selection

Fifth round: 142nd overall selection

Sixth round: 182nd overall selection

In a break from recent tradition, the Bears will pick in the top-10 (barring a trade) for just the second time in 14 years. The No.7 overall selection is the team’s highest choice since taking Cedric Benson fourth in the 2005 NFL draft.

Here is the rundown for Thursday:

10:35 a.m. (CT) -- 11:40 a.m. -- Voluntary minicamp practice

-- Head coach John Fox available off the field

-- No player availability

7:00 p.m. -- Round 1 of the NFL draft

-- Bears’ first-round pick participates in conference call with Chicago media at Halas Hall

-- Bears’ top choice will also hold press conference downtown if player is in Chicago
