LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Reports of LaDainian Tomlinson's demise were premature.
Through 14 games, Tomlinson is the leading rusher (886 yards) and receiver (50 catches) for a 10-4 Jets squad poised to make a return trip to the AFC playoffs. Tomlinson may not possess the same type of electricity he did when he recorded eight consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons or scored 31 combined touchdowns in 2006, but Bears linebacker Lance Briggs believes Tomlinson has plenty of juice left on the field.
"He does [look like the old LT]," Briggs said. "He has close to 1,000 yards rushing. Their offense is gaining about 140 yards a game and he’s a big part of why they’re doing that. Him, Shonn Greene, their offensive line, very physical."
The Bears' defense, however, performed adequately in two prior meetings with Tomlinson, holding him to 86 yards on 33 carries and 2 touchdowns.
