WINNIPEG, Manitoba --The Blackhawks trail the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-1 after two periods in the Hawks preseason opener.

The Lightning led 1-0 after one period but Patrick Sharp scored early in the second to tie the game after a quick centering pass by Bryan Bickell. Fernando Pisani was given an assist on the play as well.

The Lightning took back the lead late in the period on a power-play goal by Carter Ashton.

Jonathan Toews, playing in his hometown, has taken two penalties. One, for holding, in the first period, and then a roughing call in the second.

The middle 20 minutes featured two fights. First, Nick Boynton squared off with Blair Jones after Boynton hit Chris Durno. Both were given game misconducts in addition to the five minute fighting penalties. Later, Durno fought Jake Dowell to a draw.
