The Chicago Blackhawks and Florida Panthers are scoreless after one period at the United Center.

Neither team generated much on offense in the opening 20 minutes -- though the Hawks had 12 shots on net. Only a couple were good scoring chances including a point blank try by Ryan Johnson after receiving a feed from Jake Dowell from behind Florida’s net. Tomas Vokoun made the big save on Johnson’s shot.<.p>

Corey Crawford had one good save on David Booth during a Panthers’ power play as Florida had eight shots on net. The Hawks also failed to convert on an early man advantage try after Viktor Stalberg was hooked going to the net with the puck.

New Hawk center Marcus Kruger played 3:33 but didn’t touch the puck a lot. He did play a few seconds on the power play as well.
