COLUMBUS -- The Chicago Blackhawks lead the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-1 after two periods at Nationwide Arena.

The story of the game so far is the Hawks defense, led by Steve Montador. Montador has a Gordie Howe hat trick getting his first goal as a Hawk to go along with an assist in the second period. He fought Derek Dorsett in the first period.

Montador earned his points on the power play getting time in the slot. He assisted on Andrew Brunette’s power play tally then later in the second he scored on a feed from Duncan Keith.

In all, Hawks defensemen have six points in the game. Jonathan Toews has two goals, both scored back in the first period. Patrick Kane scored on a break-away after a feed from Daniel Carcillo. The Hawks have dominated the game through 40 minutes.
