CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks lead the Montreal Canadiens 2-1 after two periods at the United Center.

The Hawks got down 1-0 early in the period but stormed back with two goals in 21 seconds to take the lead. Jonathan Toews looked like he had netted his 20th of the season on a goal-mouth feed from Andrew Brunette but the goal was awarded to Brunette.

Moments later Patrick Sharp took off on a 2-on-1 with Brandon Pirri and decided to shoot instead of pass, scoring his 18th of the year.

Montreal got on the board with a power play tally early in the middle period when Andrei Kostitsyn tipped home a shot off Tomas Plekanec’s stick.
Corey Crawford has played well over the first 40 minutes making a highlight reel post-to-post save with his paddle on Max Pacioretty.
