CHICAGO— -- The Chicago Blackhawks and Dallas Stars are scoreless after the first period at the United Center.

There was little offense in the opening 20 minutes especially for the home team as Stars’ goalie Richard Bachman wasn’t tested very much. Dallas had a couple of good chances -- including one when Adam Burish grabbed a turnover by Brent Seabrook but was turned away on the mini break. Later, Corey Crawford made a close in save on a Tomas Vincour blast into his chest.

The Hawks missed on their one power-play chance extending a streak of futility to 0 for their last 33. The teams combined for just 11 shots on net.
