CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues are tied 1-1 after the first period.

The Hawks struck first when Bryan Bickell scored after a nice transition up ice. Sean O’Donnell passed cross-ice to Nick Leddy who found Bickell at center ice. As he entered the offensive zone Dave Bolland skated through the middle of the ice providing a quick screen for Bickell to shoot past and score.

But just nine second after the ensuing face-off Alex Steen blew by Leddy and scored on Corey Crawford to tie the game.

The Hawks had numerous other chances on Jaroslav Halak as they recorded 14 shots on net. Andrew Shaw took a late roughing penalty so the Hawks will open the second period killing that infraction.

The Hawks had one power play chance of their own, recording a shot late in the mad-advantage breaking a string of nine consecutive power play attempts without a shot on goal.
