Blackhawks recall seven from Rockford

The Chicago Blackhawks recalled forwards Brandon Bollig, Marcus Kruger, Brandon Pirri, Brandon Saad and Andrew Shaw and defensemen Nick Leddy and Ryan Stanton from the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs on Sunday.

Bollig, Kruger, Shaw and Leddy departed Rockford early last week and participated in informal practices with the Blackhawks at Johnny’s IceHouse West in Chicago.

Pirri, Saad and Stanton remained in Rockford last week and continued playing with the IceHogs. All three players participated in the IceHogs’ 2-1 road win over the Milwaukee Admirals on Saturday. Saad scored the game-winner 52 seconds into overtime.

Bollig, 25 had five goals and nine points in 35 games with the IceHogs this season. He ranks third in the AHL with a team-high 157 penalty minutes. He played 18 regular-season games and four postseason games with the Blackhawks last season. He ranked sixth among NHL rookies with 58 penalty minutes. He was signed as a free agent in 2010.

Kruger, 22, had eight goals and 14 assists in 34 games with the IceHogs this season. He had nine goals and 17 assists in 71 regular-season games with the Blackhawks last season. His 26 points last season ranked 11th among NHL rookies. He was selected by the Blackhawks in the fifth round of the 2009 draft.

Leddy, 21, had three goals and 13 assists in 31 games with the IceHogs this season. He had three goals and 34 assists in 82 regular-season games with the Blackhawks last season. He was the only defenseman to appear in all 82 games. He was acquired in a trade with the Minnesota Wild in 2010. He was originally drafted by the Wild No. 16 overall in the 2009 draft.

Pirri, 21, had 10 goals and 16 assists in 38 games for the IceHogs this season. He leads the IceHogs with 103 shots on goal. He played in five games for the Blackhawks last season. He was selected by the Blackhawks in the second round of the 2009 draft.

Saad, 20, had eight goals and 12 assists in 31 games for the IceHogs this season. He played in two regular-season games and two postseason games for the Blackhawks last season. He was selected by the Blackhawks in the second round of the 2011 draft.

Shaw, 21, had eight goals and six assists in 28 games for the IceHogs this season. He had 12 goals and 11 assists in 37 games for the Blackhawks last season. He was fifth on the Blackhawks with 82 hits. He was selected by the Blackhawks in the fifth round of the 2011 draft.

Stanton, 23, had nine assists in 38 games for the IceHogs this season. He has not played for the Blackhawks. He was named the IceHogs’ Top Defenseman last season. He was signed as a free agent in 2010.
