DETROIT -- If rookie forward Jeremy Morin was looking to make a lasting impression on the Chicago Blackhawks coaching staff and front office Sunday afternoon, he may have done so.

In his first game with Chicago this season, Morin scored on his first shift and on his first shot on goal during the Blackhawks’ 7-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings.
“It’s exciting to just be up here and part of this team,” Morin said. “They’re rolling right now and at the top of the NHL, so it’s nice to be a part of and I’m just trying to make the most of it.”
Morin, who was recalled from Rockford of the American Hockey League on Saturday, scored 2:33 into the contest, the first of three Blackhawks goals in a 1:39 span.
“Obviously, it’s exciting, that’s what you hope for playing in Rockford,” Morin said. “You’re just trying to develop and hone your game and hope at some point to get a call and an opportunity. They’ve given me one, so I’m just trying to make the most of it.”
Morin has played 13 games over three seasons with Chicago and has a career-best 49 points in 59 games this season with the IceHogs.
“Nice start (for him),” Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said. “(He) certainly gives us some energy and it’s a reward for him to get up here and get a chance to be seen and I thought he took advantage of his opportunity to play. I thought he did some good things throughout the game with an awareness of how our team game is.”
Morin played 11:19 and finished with two shots on goal.
