CHICAGO -- Here’s a quick look at the Chicago Blackhawks’ 2-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres at the United Center on Saturday.

How it happened: The Blackhawks took part in their fourth one-goal game of the season. They built a 2-0 lead with a first-period goal by Ben Smith and a power-play goal by Patrick Kane in the second period. The Sabres cut the lead to one with a goal by Drew Stafford at 11:49 of the third period. Chicago held on from there and secured the win. Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford made 28 saves, and Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller stopped 38 shots. Blackhawks forward Patrick Sharp played in his 600th career game.

What it means: The Blackhawks took both games in their first back-to-back set of the season. They improved to 3-1-1 on the season, and the Sabres fell to 0-5-1. The Blackhawks were perfect on the penalty kill for the second consecutive game after allowing five power-play goals in their first three games. Chicago's power play has now scored in four games. Kane has four goals in five games.

Player of the game: Crawford wasn’t tested consistently, but the Sabres had their full share of quality chances on him. Crawford was up for the challenge. He stopped 22 shots over the last two periods.

Stat of the game: Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa had a game-high six takeaways.

What’s next: The Blackhawks get two days off after having three games in four days. They’re on the road against the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday.
