CHICAGO -- Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson left practice early due to an upper-body injury on Friday, but he is expected to play against the Dallas Stars on Saturday.

"He should be fine," Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said after practice at Johnny's IceHouse West.

Hjalmarsson has one goal, seven assists, 33 blocked shots and a plus-8 rating in 16 games this season. He was only scratched from two games last season.

Quenneville also said Blackhawks forward Michal Handzus isn't ready to return to practice yet. Handzus hasn't played since Oct. 24 due to an upper-body injury. He has one goal and two assists in nine games this season.

"He skated today hard, but still not into our practices," Quenneville said. "Still a bit away."
