12/14/2013

The Chicago Blackhawks acquired goaltender Jason LaBarbera from the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday in exchange for future considerations. The 33-year-old LaBarbera will report to the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL.

LaBarbera had a 1-3-0 record with a 3.28 goals-against average and .870 save percentage in seven games for the Oilers this season. He was 0-1-1 with a 1.93 goals-against average and .953 save percentage in two games with the Oklahoma City Barons of the AHL this season.

LaBarbera is 60-73-19 overall with a 2.86 goals-against average and .907 save percentage in 182 career NHL games with five teams. He was originally selected by the New York Rangers in the third round of the 1998 draft.

The Blackhawks recalled rookie goaltenders Antti Raanta and Kent Simpson from the IceHogs in the past month due to injuries to goaltenders Corey Crawford and Nikolai Khabibulin.
