Blackhawks Olympic update: Day 2

Here’s a look at how the Chicago Blackhawks fared in the Olympics on Thursday:

Patrick Kane, forward, USA
Team USA was impressive in a 7-1 win over Slovakia, and Kane had something to do with that. Kane contributed two assists, including a primary one to break a 1-1 tie in the second period. He had two shots on goal, a plus-two rating and played 17 shifts in 15:38 of ice time. He has three goals and four assists in seven career Olympic games. The USA will play Russia on Saturday.

Marian Hossa, forward, Slovakia
Hossa provided the assist on Slovakia’s lone goal. He had one shot on goal, one minor penalty and a minus-one rating. He led Slovakia’s forwards with 18:59 of ice time. He has 12 goals and 14 assists in 16 career Olympic games. Slovakia will play Slovenia on Saturday.

Michal Handzus, forward, Slovakia
Handzus played more for Slovakia than he has in any game for the Blackhawks this season. He played 17:41 of ice time against the USA. He was 6-of-13 on faceoffs. He had one shot on goal and a zero rating for the game.

Jonathan Toews, forward, Canada
Toews came up big at the dot for Canada in a 3-1 win over Norway as he won 10 of 14 faceoffs. He also led Canada’s forwards with 16:15 of ice time. He finished with zero shots on goal and a zero rating. Canada will play Austria on Friday.

Duncan Keith, defenseman, Canada
Keith provided the primary assist on Shea Weber's goal to put Canada ahead 1-0 against Norway. Keith finished with one assist, one penalty, a plus-one rating and 16:39 of ice time.

Patrick Sharp, forward, Canada
Sharp was held without a shot on goal in Canada’s win. He had one penalty, won his lone faceoff and had a plus-one rating. He also played 14:21 of ice time.
