Hawks acquire Rundblad, Brisebois from Coyotes

The Chicago Blackhawks acquired defensemen David Rundblad and Mathieu Brisebois from the Phoenix Coyotes for a second-round pick in the 2014 draft on Tuesday.

Rundblad, 23, will join the Blackhawks, and Brisebois, 21, will report to the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL.

Rundblad had one assist and a minus-3 rating in 12 games for the Coyotes this season. He also played four games for the Portland Pirates of the AHL this season. He has nine points in 50 career NHL games and is signed through the 2014-15 season. He was originally selected No. 17 overall in the 2009 draft by the St. Louis Blues.

Brisebois had one goal, five assists and a minus-5 rating in 28 games for the Pirates this season. He previously played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and was selected as a finalist for the league’s top defenseman award last season. He was signed by the Coyotes as a free agent in March 2013 and is signed through the 2015-16 season.
