The Chicago Blackhawks agreed to terms Wednesday with forward Brandon Mashinter on a two-year contract extension.

The Blackhawks acquired the 25-year-old Mashinter in a trade with the New York Rangers on Dec. 6. He was set to become a restricted free agent at the end of the season.

Mashinter has played for the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL since being traded to the Blackhawks. He has 10 goals and 12 assists in 34 games for the IceHogs this season. Prior to joining the Blackhawks this season, he had zero points in six games for the Rangers and had one goal and seven assists in 11 games for the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL.

Mashinter was originally signed by the San Jose Sharks as a free agent in March of 2009. He was traded to the Rangers in January of 2013.
