Hawks, Kings to meet again in West finals

The Chicago Blackhawks will play the Los Angeles Kings in the NHL's Western Conference finals for the second consecutive season.

The Kings clinched their second-round series over the Anaheim Ducks with a 6-2 victory Friday in Game 7. Los Angeles defeated the San Jose Sharks in seven games in the first round. The Kings have advanced to the Western Conference finals the past three seasons.

The Blackhawks will have home-ice advantage over the Kings. Game 1 of their series will be at the United Center at 2 p.m. CT on Sunday. Chicago defeated L.A. in five games in the Western Conference finals last season.

The Blackhawks advanced to the Western Conference finals by clinching their second-round series against the Minnesota Wild in Game 6 on Tuesday. They defeated the St. Louis Blues in six games in the first round. Chicago has reached the Western Conference finals four times in the past six seasons.

The Blackhawks swept the regular-season series against the Kings, defeating them 3-1 in Chicago on Dec. 15, 1-0 in Chicago on Dec. 30, and 5-3 in Los Angeles on Feb. 3.
