Hawks open '14-15 season on road vs. Stars

The Chicago Blackhawks will open the 2014-15 NHL regular season on the road against the Dallas Stars on Thursday, Oct. 9 and will play their first home game against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday, Oct. 11.

The NHL announced the home openers for all 30 teams Saturday. The league will reveal its full schedule Sunday.

The Blackhawks had the seventh-best regular-season record in the NHL last season by going 46-21-15 with 107 points. They were 27-7-7 at home and 19-14-8 on the road. They were eliminated in the Western Conference finals by the Los Angeles Kings, who went on to win the Stanley Cup.
