Season recap: Nordstrom making the team out of training camp was a surprise. He impressed Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville with his defensive play and consistency. He spent a bulk of the season in the AHL, but was called up again late in the season and even got some playoff ice time.

Season highlight: Nordstrom scored his first career NHL goal in a win over the New York Islanders on Oct. 11.

Season lowlight: Nordstrom was reassigned to the AHL in October and again in December.

Final grade: C+.

Inside the numbers: Nordstrom had a 50.4 Corsi percentage for the Blackhawks during the regular season, according to extraskater.com. He was on the ice for 144 shots for and 142 against in 5-on-5 situations.

Notes: Nordstrom had a nine-game points streak with the Rockford IceHogs from Dec. 20-Jan. 8. He had four goals and eight assists during that span.

Quotes: "I think this year has been good for me," Nordstrom said during the playoffs. "I've been playing a lot. I've been learning a lot. I got a chance to play up here and playing in Rockford has been great, too."

What's next: Nordstrom should be in the mix again with a few other prospects for ice time with the Blackhawks next season. He'll become a restricted free agent after next season.
