Power? Blackhawks' ranking sinks
By Jesse Rogers
ESPN.com's weekly Power Rankings are out, and if you thought the Chicago Blackhawks' initial ranking of No. 4 was too low, then you won't be happy with this week's slot.
The Hawks are No. 22.
To add insult to injury, the Detroit Red Wings -- who the Hawks lost to in their home opener on Saturday -- sit atop the rankings. In fact, the Wings are the only Central Division team in the Top 10.
It's hard to imagine the Hawks behind the Predators, Blues and Blue Jackets -- but they are. The only consolation is they are the highest ranked two-loss team. For example, the star-laden Pittsburgh Penguins are 0-2 and ranked No. 27.
At this time of year, the rankings can fluctuate immensely from one week to another. The Hurricanes, Stars and Maple Leafs are ranked Nos. 2, 3 and 4 this week after starting the year Nos. 14, 20 and 23.
Safe to say the Hawks and Penguins wont languish in the bottom third of the league for very long.
