The Chicago Blackhawks trail the Buffalo Sabres 3-2 after the second period at the United Center.
The Hawks had tied the score at 2-2 on yet another dynamic scoring sequence by Marian Hossa. With the Hawks trailing 2-1, and just a minute into the second period, Hossa took a homerun pass from Brent Seabrook and exploded towards Sabres goaltender Patrick Lalime. He faked Lalime one way and scored going the other with his league leading fifth goal of the season.
But with just minutes remaining in the period the Sabres regained the lead on a sequence that began with Marty Turco giving away the puck behind his net. Jassen Cullimore lost track of Cody McCormick who was in front of Turco and slid one past him.
The Hawks have given up 29 shots through two periods while managing just 16.
