Second period recap: Hawks 1, Avalanche 1

By Jesse Rogers

The Chicago Blackhawks and Colorado Avalanche are tied 1-1 after the second period at the United Center.

Bryan Bickell made a highlight reel move to the center of the ice inside the Avalanche zone before wristing one by Craig Anderson for the Hawks' first goal of the night. It came in the first minute of the period and tied the game at 1-1. It was Bickell’s eighth of the season.

The Hawks defense has rebounded from a poor showing on Monday, in Colorado, limiting the Avalanche to just 12 shots. A few good scoring chances, including some odd-man rushes, have been negated with Corey Crawford making the big save when needed.

The Hawks have 29 shots on net through two periods.
