The Chicago Blackhawks lead the Calgary Flames 2-1 after the first period at the United Center.< p>The Hawks had a good start to the contest, netting the first goal of the game on a pretty passing play from the hottest line in the league. Patrick Kane went cross ice from right wing to left where Patrick Sharp quickly centered to Jonathan Toews, who was standing to the right of Miikka Kiprusoff. Toews emphatically hammered the puck home for his fourth goal in his last three games.
The Flames responded after Toews took a questionable goaltender interference penalty. Jerome Iginla got around Duncan Keith on the ensuing power play and found Alex Tanguay near the point as he tied the game.
The Hawks regained the lead on a nifty touch pass from Jake Dowell behind his back to Michael Frolik, who scored his first as a Blackhawk and first since Dec. 17, a span of 32 games.
