COLUMBUS -- The Chicago Blackhawks and Columbus Blue Jackets are tied 2-2 after two periods at Nationwide Arena.
At this rate the Hawks might be happy to get at least a point against the lowly Jackets. The visitors are getting outplayed and are taking bad penalties to boot.
Columbus tied the game on a 5-on-3 power play breaking a long man-advantage drought covering 11 games. Marian Hossa was in the penalty box for boarding while Nikals Hjalmarsson sent a puck in the stands for a delay-of-game call giving the Jackets the extended 5-on-3.
The Hawks led 2-0 early in the first period on goals by Patrick Kane and Brent Seabrook but they’ve turned the puck over and played sloppy leading to seven minor penalties including a double minor on Kane for hi-sticking. Stars Marian Hossa, Duncan Keith, and Jonathan Toews have also spent time in the penalty box.
The Hawks are being outshot 29-17 through 40 minutes.
