Second period: Hawks 1, Avalanche 1

By Jesse Rogers

DENVER -- The Chicago Blackhawks and Colorado Avalanche are tied 1-1 after two periods at the Pepsi Center.

The Avalanche tied the game late in the second on a great rush up ice and after Matt Duchene dropped a pass to Joakim Lindstrom, and he sent one on net, the puck rebounded off Ryan O’Byrne and past Corey Crawford.

The Hawks played a better second period but overall the Avalanche have had the better scoring chances while Crawford has kept the visitors in the game with several big saves.

The Hawks' lone goal came back in the first period by Jonathan Toews after a nice pass by Dan Carcillo from behind the Avs’ net. Colorado goaltender Semyon Varlamov has gotten better as the game has advanced. He made a point-blank save on Brent Seabrook with just seconds remaining in the middle 20 minutes.
