CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks lead the Florida Panthers 2-0 after the first period at the United Center.
The Hawks had the puck in the offensive zone for a lot of the opening 20 minutes but didn’t manage many dangerous scoring chances until the final few minutes.
First, Patrick Kane found a streaking Jonathan Toews for a mini break-away as Toews’ finished for his 27th goal of the season. Just two minutes later on a Hawks power play, Duncan Keith found a shooting lane and scored his first goal since Nov. 13.
On the other end of the ice, Ray Emery wasn’t tested very much as he made one tough save late in the period. The Hawks had the puck most of the time and it paid off with their two goals.
The game started a half-hour later than scheduled due to inclement weather. Florida’s team bus arrived at the United Center just 45 minutes before the regular 7:30 pm start time.
