Second-period wrap: Hawks 1, Stars 0

By Jesse Rogers

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks lead the Dallas Stars 1-0 after the second period at the United Center.

Scoring chances picked up for the Hawks in the middle 20 minutes and finally they broke through for a goal by Marian Hossa after a nice individual play by Michael Frolik.

Frolik took a hit along the end boards to the left of Dallas goaltender Richard Bachman but stole the puck and went to the net with it. Hossa was there to clean up the rebound for the game’s lone goal.

Dallas had little going on offense in the other direction while Ryan Garbutt hit both posts on one shot but the puck stayed out of the net. Corey Crawford made a couple of other big saves to preserve the 40 minute shutout.

Dallas has just 10 shots on net through two periods.
